Mapspam

Apart from my original cartography and the the articles on "thinking in space" that I have posted here, I have also been digitizing and posting some of the maps, mostly historical works, at www.mapspam.net.

I ended up collecting a lot of nineteenth century geography textbooks during my research on James Monteith and the site has some great Monteith visuals that didn't make it into the article at Cartographic Perspectives. I am also hoping to dig more into other textbook innovators from the era like Jacques Redway and Adolph Steinwehr.

The site also skews towards some material collected in my research on Alexander Macomb Mason and other European explorers of the upper Nile in the 1870s. And naturally there are some examples of my deep affinity for the work by Richard Edes Harrison.
