Another sketch along similar lines. The data on this map is all from 2020, but gives a different perspective on the wartime challenges of 1940. Having recently re-watched the 1960s film "Battle of Britain" and read The Splendid and the Vile, this map brings home the painful and terrifying proximity of all the urban areas in conflict in 1940. I also like how this view keeps Denmark, southern Norway and the North Sea in the center frame, lest we forget the importance of those theaters and campaigns through a fixation on Dover-Calais. That reminds me that I need to attempt a map focused on the Norway Campaign.
